Citizens in Bonao marched against exploitation of Loma Miranda today. They would like the area to be declared as a national park in order to protect the source of water of the lower Cibao region which hundreds of farmers depend upon for irrigation of their crops.
Multinational company, Xstrata Falconbridge has already caused significant mining devastation at four previous sites, Loma Peguera, El Verde, Ortega and Ponton.
