The world is changing, countries are working hard on combating terrorism, but in India things are slightly different after the Narendra Modi’s government came into power. The world’s largest democracy has a problem and that is rape and cow meat.
Last week, a man was brutally murdered for eating cow meat and now a toddler along with a five-year-old girl have been raped in the country’s capital city Delhi.
The Hindustan Times reported that the toddler was playing outside her home when she was kidnapped by two men and later found bleeding and unconscious in a park while in another incident a five-year-old girl was gang raped in the east side of the capital.
According to the Delhi police, no arrests had been made however, several men were detained in suspicion of raping the toddler.
The Deputy Supt of Delhi police Pushpendra Kumar claims that two men have been arrested in suspicion of raping the five-year-old girl. The family of the victim was able to track the alleged rapists when the girl reached home and informed the family about the whereabouts of the suspects who were then beaten by the locals and handed over to the police.
The recent rape incidents are hugely criticized by the civil society and government officials in India. Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi me the victims and tweeted that.
Repeated rape of minors is shameful and worrying. Delhi police has completely failed to provide safety. What are PM n his LG doing?

The National Crime Records Bureau reported that Rape is the fourth most common crime against women in India with 24,000 reported cases in 2012.
According to 2012 statistics, New Delhi has the highest raw number of rape reports among Indian cities, while Jabalpur has the highest per capita rate of rape reports. Several rape cases in India received widespread media attention and triggered protests since 2012. This led the Government of India to reform its penal code for crimes of rape and sexual assault. However, the situation remained unchanged and gone worse with the recent rape of the toddler.
The 2012 Delhi Gang Rape: The rapes in India got worldwide attention in 2012 after Delhi gang rape and murder of a 23-year-old woman Jyoti Singh who was a physiotherapy student. She was assaulted and gang raped on the bus; her friend was also physically assaulted during the incident.
Both of them were subsequently thrown from the bus. She received emergency treatment including several surgeries in India and Singapore but died on 29 December 2012 due to the serious nature of the injuries she sustained in the assault.
The BBC documentary “India’s Daughter” about the Delhi gang rape exposed how the rapist ‘didn’t express a second of regret’ and blamed the victim for the attack. The documentary has been banned in India.
