Day 3 of “Danger zone” Protests in Hamburg, Police Lies Exposed

0

Protests in Hamburg are ongoing, and details about the Hamburg police departments fabrication of an alleged attack on the Davidwache police station on December 28th have emerged. This supposed attack was among the reasons police gave for restricting a large part of Hamburg into a state of emergency like “danger zone,” which is clearly intended to crush the resistance of those defending the Rote Flora cultural center.

Three days after the instatement of the “danger zone,” more eyewitnesses stated that the police station was not attacked at all on the night of December 28th as police claimed.
The danger zone seeps into 4 districts of Hamburg, and serves to take the 100,0000 people who live within it (and anyone who travels through it) under pre-emptive arrest.

Demonstrations in the “danger zone” continued, as some 1000 people took to the streets for the third day in a row. Anger is growing, and people now know that the attack on Davidswache police station was fabricated. Cops are angering and harassing the locals. In one instance, they have set up a checkpoint to target each customer at a coffee shop that wouldn’t give them discounted prices.

To defy them, people who disobey their orders, carry lots of terribly dangerous objects, as seen in the picture below, to keep the cops busy and mock them at the same time.

Again, one of the main reasons for this state of emergency zone (which describes the actual situation in Hamburg better than the word danger zone) was an alleged attack on the Davidwache police station at the Reeperbahn.
According to the police, a group of “30 – 40 masked autonomous leftwing rioters” attacked the Davidwache police station with stones and bottles on December 28th. Police officials also stated that the group smashed the windows of the police station, and that as three cops came out of the police station, they were attacked with stones and bottles. According to police officials, one of the cops was severly injured in the attack, as he was hit by a stone thrown from from close range into his face. Mainstream media covered the story, quoting a police officer from a police union (which actually is not a union but more of a police lobby group) that police would have to use live ammo against autonomous groups in the future and demanding tasers be permitted for police use. The president of the Hamburg police department said that violence can not be tolerated to achieve political aims.
(Just the police violence, of course.)
On Monday a lawyer, mister Beuth of the autonomous cultural center Rote Flora, stated that the press release regarding the attack was full of disinformation; and that the attack on the police station on December 28th never actually took place. The lawyer alleged that there was no masked group of activists and that there was no attack on the police station at all. He said there indeed was one injured police officer, but he did not get his injuries at in any Davidwache attack. It would have been impossible for him to get injured at Davidwache, says Beuth, since he does not even work at that police station. After Beuth brought this information to light, the police tried to amend their story: now they stated that the police officer was injured about 200 meters away from the Davidwache police station. Beuth asked the police to release the images recorded by the CCTV cameras right in front of the police station to prove that the station was attacked, as the police continued to claim. But a spokesman of the Hamburg police department said that they cannot do that since the CCTV did not record any images. When asked if Mr. Beuth was lying, the spokesman for the department said that “they (the police) did not know” and that they had to clarify that.

On Monday night, publikative.org published an article in which an eyewitness of the events on December 28th explained that the reality of what happened was much different from the story the police told the media. He said that he was leaving from a concert in Reeperbahn, when he saw a group of about 25 people. The people in the group were not wearing any masks, and they did not look organised like the police claimed. He said that no stones or bottles were thrown at the Davidwache police station, another claim made by police. The people in the group were singing football songs and police officers of the Davidwache tried to stop them. One person was taken down to the ground according the eyewitness, and that provoked a verbal argument between policemen an members of the group. But, after a while, all were allowed to go. The eyewitness continued his report as he told reporters that a short time after the group had left, a police officer who was injured came from the Hein-Hoyer street and not out of the Davidwache like police have claimed for over a week. According to the eyewitness, the injured police officer was brought into the police station for first aid care after he came from the Hein-Hoyer street.
Police can detain anyone in the areas they command in Hamburg, with no court orders or a warrant from a judge. The grounds for their imposed martial law are based on lies, as a lawyer has proven.

Police seem to be falling into their own traps, since they cannot even tell the same story. On Monday night, there was a meeting of the interior committee of the Hamburg senate. Peter Born, the officer in charge at the Rote Flora demo on December 21st (which was attacked by the police after the demonstrators only managed to take 20 peaceful meters), told the members of the commitee that the police officers at the Davidwache police station on December 28 thought there was a spontaneous demo, because of the loud slogans the group was chanting, and went out to stop it. This version was also different from earlier versions as Born did not speak about an attack, but about the police acting to stop the group. Interior senator Neumann (who is the interior minister of the state of Hamburg) told the FSK radio station that its also possible that a group of visitors from a bar that was passing the police station by chance could have been involved in the incident.

On Tuesday, in regards to the same incident, another eyewitness told spiegel.de that at 23:00 (11:00 pm) local time at the corner Hein-Hoyer-Str. / Seilerstr,  a group of 20 people were arguing with 2 police officers. The people did not wear masks and had no black clothes. The eyewitness said that it looked like a typical argument in the district. The group retreated heading north as policemen pushed them away. “At that moment I didn’t see any injured police officers. Shortly after that, riot cops came out of the Davidwache and got into a police van.”

In an interview with taz.de, Thomas Wüppesahl of the federal working group of critical police officers claims that the Hamburg police authorities deliberately spread false information about the incident at December 28. Wüppesahl, a police officer since 1971 said: “Something like that doesn’t happen by accident. No police officer is that stupid. They are doing it because they hope to get the whole city in a state of alarm to create symphaty and by creating this athmosphere they establish new facts. That worked. Especially the mainstream media did a great job for the goals of the police.”

Wüppesahl also spoke about the attack on the demonstration on December 21 for the Rote Flora, Esso houses and the Lampedusa refugees. Wüppesahl said. “Before the spectacle started I heard a conversation of 2 squad commanders from Lower Saxony. The order for the mission was very clear: They will not march from here. And for for those who know police tactics, saw the equipment there and know that half of all available police forces where at the starting point, is clear that the route was closed. The demonstration was never to take place and the police systematically made it violent.”

In Hamburg 100.000 people live and/or work in a state of emergency zone where they can be searched, banned from the area, or detained without a court order or control by a judge. Not only were the reasons for the danger zone fabricated, but the demo on December 21 was attacked by the police before it even started, initiating clashes. It looks like a police coup d’etat, but the people of Hamburg continue to resist and will not give in to a police force which is completely out of control.
